Expressions and creations come from the moment, yet are derived from an eternity of consciousness that graciously streams accessibility. Accepting one's own expression without judgement in balance with yearning to go beyond is one belief of mine of many that are ever changing. Following are snippets of my memory of this life in linear fashion to give a reference of who I AM.
Memories of youth are scattered, but a constant theme is my fascination and extreme interest in building. Building models, train sets, bicycles, rockets, forts, space ships, planes, castles and more. Building with precision and logic while my creations live in dreams and fantasy. Along with creations outside of my body was the drive in athletics, pushing myself to be better and to win feeding my competitive nature. And nature itself; most of my childhood was spent in the beauty of vast deserts.
Architecture became a passion of mine in my teens, designing many open living environments. I went on to study and obtain an Industrial Engineering degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After graduation I spent the next decade engaged in business systems design and software development. This fed my passions as I thrived in fast paced environments immersed in my love of creating efficient solutions and solving complex problems.
World travel has also been a prominent theme in my life; traveling to 40 different countries and cultures living in plush Swiss chateaus to edge of the world palm frond and bamboo shacks. Experiencing and observing cultures and nature across the globe, next stop is space. Free camping for six months in deserts of Baja to climbing active volcanoes in Indonesia. Stories and adventures shaping me.
Art and Creating have been my passion for the last 10 years, along with surfing. I took every art class at Cabrillo college learning and exploring. Pushing my boundaries and finding my niche. A continual endeavor and reward. Here I AM.
The Santa Cruz Good Times did a feature article in April 2008 on the Cabrillo College Arts program and six Students, including Jay Palmer. One of Jay's Sculptures was chosen for the front cover, check out the cover here and the press release here.
